How Patreon’s fees work.
The 10% is only the first one. Here’s each fee, and what it costs.
Platform fee: 10%
New pages pay 10% of what members pay. Pages published on or before August 4, 2025 keep their old plan: 5% on Founders, 8% on Pro or 11% on Pro + Merch. If the page is ever unpublished, it moves to 10%.
Payment processing: 2.9% + $0.30
Taken from every card or US PayPal payment, and 3.9% + $0.30 from PayPal outside the US. On older plans, payments of $3 or less cost 5% + $0.10 instead. The $0.30 hits small tiers hardest: a $3 tier leaves you $2.31.
Currency conversion: 2.5%
Taken when a member pays in a different currency from your payout currency. There’s no fee when they pay in your currency.
Payout fee: from $0.25
Taken each time you cash out. A US direct deposit costs $0.25. PayPal takes 1%, from $0.25 to $20, with a $10 minimum. Payoneer costs $1, with a $25 minimum.
Apple’s cut: 30%
Taken from purchases in Patreon’s iPhone app, and 15% after a member’s first year. By default Patreon raises app prices by about 43% to cover it, so fans pay more. Fans in the US can pick web checkout and skip it.
